Vigna Rionda, Collina Rionda, now called Vignarionda

If you foudn yourself looking up this amazing vineyard, take a moment and congratulate youself. You have found the highest level of wines.

What is Nebbiolo?
This is a red Italian grape subspecies of vitis vinifera native to Piedmonte. The theory behind the name is that the Italian word for ‘fog’ is nebbia and locally in piedmont ‘nebia translates similarly. This in conjunction with the Italian word for nobility, nobile is the most commonly theorized explanation.
Nebbiolo is often a light-colored red wine with extremely high tannins in its youth and famous Tar and Roses scents and flavors.

Where is Serralunga de Alba

This greatest vineyard in my humble opinion is second to none. Dear reader, don’t trust me, try it yourself.

Hunt at auction or on dusty shelves but look for producers like Roagna,
Poderi Odderro, Luigi Pira, Guido Porro, Ester Canale Poderi dell’Antica, Rivera and German Ettore save the Roagna, Massolino and Giacosa for me.

Everyone likes their wines at different times, but these  wines need to age in bottle at least 15 years. So please be exceptionally patient.

Often wine enthusiasts pay huge premiums for the greatest vineyards in their favorite wine producing region. Vineyards like Montrachet, Musigny, To-Kalon, Scharzhofberger, Petrus, Hill of Grace are world renowned and sought after. For some odd reason the greatest of them simply doesn’t register.
