A recent perfect bottle of wine:
1988 Vintage Krug- This wine opened at Tatel Beverly Hills and was one of the greatest vintages of Krug I have ever tasted. A classic champagne well in maturity, this tete de cuvee had ultra fine micro bubbles and a stunning golden color. In hindsight this wine really lived up to all the hype. This particular bottle tasted like lemons, limes and a kaleidoscope of both ripe and fresh green apples. It didn’t stop there with fresh brioche and zippy acidity. The wine was perfectly in balance, this 750ml bottle had incredible aromatic structure wafting out of the Zalto glass like a strong perfume. This example of 1988 Krug is easily 99 to 100 points and has the potential to age another 10-18 years. However well stored bottles are most likely peaking very soon as of 2024.
Cheers,
